Welcome to Dartington C of E Primary School and Nursery.
We are very proud of our school and are delighted to share an insight with you through our website.
We are currently on the Broom Park site whilst the repair programme of our original buildings is undertaken. Our accommodation is laid out with a village feel which creates zones and spaces for learning outdoors, whilst our classrooms are calm, spacious, light and airy.
The school has a flexible and creative approach to establishing enticing learning environments, which is evident in every room. Our walls capture the children’s sequences of learning and high quality resources are accessible, encouraging independent learning from all pupils.
Our Nursery, where pre-school children can play and learn alongside our Reception pupils within a specifically created Foundation Stage Unit, is run by our specialist team of Early Years practitioners. Planned connections and shared opportunities ensure transitions are smooth so that children continue to make strides in their learning year on year as they progress through the school.
We build resilience in our learners so that they tackle the highest challenges and can talk with pride about their outcomes.
We are a Thrive school with a commitment to holding Thrive approaches at the heart of our practice within every classroom, during the less structured times of the day (play and lunchtimes) which we call Out’N’About times and in all our relationships across the school community. Thirty one of our staff are fully trained as Thrive Licensed Practitioners so that our care for children is skilfully applied, consistently of a high quality and underpins social and emotional learning. This ensures all children can be switched on to learning and develop insight and strategies which are explicitly taught.
As a church school we draw on the Christian values such as friendship, respect, inclusiveness and tolerance, which underpin everything we do.
A strength of our community is the children’s ability to collaborate, learning with and from each other, as well as the close partnership we enjoy with our parents and carers which is an important aspect of our school.
Every member of our school team, including staff and Governors, has worked tirelessly towards raising standards in reading, writing and mathematics, whilst holding on to our core values of creativity, challenge, empathy and compassion and reflection. The impact of this shines out in children’s learning attitudes, the quality and volume of work produced and progress made in every year.
Please enjoy our website and contact the school if you would like to visit or find out more about us.
