Our school is on the National Cycle Network

At Dartington CE Primary School, we are committed to actively promoting sustainable, green travel to and from our school. Our Travel Plan encourages those that can, to leave their car at home and to enjoy walking or cycling into school. Alternatively, to share resources and travel with others in a car share or on a bus.

The school is on the National Cycle Network and so it is possible to walk, cycle or scooter into school safely from Totnes and when you arrive at school there are plenty of cycle and scooter racks to park your bikes and scooters

A zebra crossing crosses the A384 linking the cycle track to the school gates. There is also a pelican crossing on the A385 for those alighting a bus or walking from Dartington.  Rob Salem our Site Manager is our School Crossing Patrol Officer or ‘Lollipop Man’. He is stationed at our designated, dropped kerb crossing further up the A385 so those walking, cycling can cross the road and walk  safely along the pathway that skirts Dartington Playing field  leading straight into school.

Recently ‘Sustrans’ have been  running  bikeability classes in school which pupils have enjoyed. Link to Sustrans web site: www.sustrans.org.uk
